“Here I am still hanging in there,” Sky announced, limping
down the hall. “Hell of a fighting team you got here. Visara brief you on the renegade?”
Seige shook his head in the affirmative.
“I’ll fill you in later,” Sky told him.
“Come with me,” Seige said, taking his family outside. “I
know about Dan, and I am truly sorry you both had to be part of this battle. But I am thankful you were together. I need a special favor from both of you. I’m about to go into a big one, so the bad people will stay away from you. I want you two to take care of each other one more time until I return, okay?”
“You know I will,” Jennifer affirmed, wanting to say more but not wanting to distract.
“Me too. I promise,” Sienna said as Jennifer led her out of the room away from her father.
“Sienna, let me have the software,” Visara asked. “My good- ness, what happened to your face?”
“Another one tried, but we were lucky.”
“I know right now it seems like there will be no end to this killing but it will change very quickly after tonight.”
“I hope you’re right Jennifer said. “You don’t know how many times I wished Seige would get away from this kind of life even though I would never tell him that.”
“Don’t worry, honey,” Visara said, hugging her, I’ll take care of him.”
