Brock’s team on the other end of town had descended into the main distribution point masked and armed as workers fell to the floor overcome by gas. The mask the workers wore was not designed to repel the onslaught of gas. A few put up a fight, but to no avail. The team quickly gathered the workers toward the middle of the room, and suddenly a worker holding a rag over his nose bolted through a hidden panel. As the door closed the team prepared to follow.
“Quincy and Johnny, secure and search these guys,” Brock directed while sizing up the situation. “Everybody else get ready. We’re going through. Move out.”
He started the point man through the panel. Craig and Ralph burst through the panel and hit the floor rolling in opposite di- rections and stopping in the prone ready position. Craig came to his feet and headed toward barrels in the room. With ease, Brock and Frank came through the panel hitting the floor as Ralph moved forward.
Then a squeak came from the door opening to the alley. A figure in the room tried to escape. The man ran into the alley and abruptly hit the ground.
Smack!
Marcus hit the escaping man in the mouth as he came to- ward him. The door to the alley opened a second time. Another captive tried to get away.
“Just relax,” Marcus told the man, “so I don’t have to kill you.”
Deftly, Marcus reached out and removed the pistol from the man’s hand smiling at the frustration.
“Drag your buddy over here in the bushes,” he added.
In the main operating room, Quincy and Johnny were in the process of securing their last captive but heard a popping sound. “Everybody down,” Quincy said. “Sounded like something
happened to the equipment.”
“Fan out and find whatever it was,” Brock,” said and unplug
everything as you go.”
