However, his daughter at least called her stepmother by her first name, Jenni- fer. Seige sat in deep thought at the base of the stairs with a puzzled look on his face, when Sienna’s words interrupted.
“Daddy,” she said, grabbing his hand, “I have something to show you.”
He snapped out of his daydream and looked at her adoringly. “Yes dear,” he said.
“Come with me,” she said, leading him to her room. “Look at
this, Daddy. I have been working on it forever! This first one is called a freeze program, and the others allow me to be a real hacker.” The familiar hot feeling started to rush over Seige’s body as he thought about how close she had come in the past to getting
caught breaking an encrypted InfoBase.
“We are not headed for troubles again are we honey?” he
asked.
“No, really. This time I found something that is totally awe-
some, and I finally perfected it. I have just been getting better by using some of those sites on the net that reward you for cracking databases and hacking. Here’s how it works. When I attempt to get into an encrypted database, of course it asks me for a pass- word. I go to special menus I put on my computer and pull down the freeze program. First it freezes the screen at the other end. Another pull down and my decrypter tries to break the code using random numbers. And. See those numbers clicking across the screen, it’s actually working!” she said excitedly.”
Seige watched as the access denied was frozen on the screen as numbers exchanged position rapidly.
“Once it’s broken, I’m in. Well, actually my program only allows me thirty minutes. But for most applications it’s long enough.”
“Are you trying to tell me that you may have a way to break into private databases?” asked Seige.
