“Yes. But it’s all perfectly legal. Remember, they have sites you can practice on. Don’t worry, Daddy, I won’t get caught.”
“And why not?”
“Because my program loops and reroutes telephone lines in random order for about 45 minutes, I have plenty of time to go offline. Besides, I have the programs on CD-ROM so that I can practice and cover myself in case of emergency.”
“That’s the only reason?”
“I will only go where I belong.”
Seige took a deep breath in exasperation.
Sienna noticing his concern said, Daddy, I know what you’re
thinking. But I promise I won’t get you in trouble. Besides, wouldn’t the government be glad to know this type of technology exists?” Seige started to speak, but paused actually thinking about
what she had done.
“You know what will happen if you get caught, and someone
comes here about it don’t you?” he warned.”
“Yes!” You will be real mad, I will be in big trouble, and
probably be grounded forever. I could even be worse.”
“Being part of the government does not mean I can protect
you from everything!”
“I understand, Daddy,” she said bowing her head.
“Come here,” he said, grabbing and hugging her again. “I
am proud of you and what you are doing. And I know there are risk still promise me you won’t get so far out there that I can’t reach you?”
“I promise.”
They both smiled. Seige finally realized he had been sweat- ing during the entire demonstration and now wondered if the air conditioner was working properly.
“Oh Dad, I want to show you some of the sites I was talking about.”
“Darling I would love to, but I must see what your brothers are up to. Maybe later okay?”
“Okay,” she said with pleasure.
