why those of us who do right end up with the short end of the stick so often.”
Everyone in the group nodded their heads in agreement and got quiet considering personal situations that brought them to the same conclusion. Matthew realized the folly of continuing this con- versation and let it die. George cut Matthew’s hair in near silence. The hum of the clippers and opening of the door were the only sound he heard until he thanked George for the haircut.
“Not another moment could be lost doing something about this situation and now was the time,” Matthew thought.
An extremely meticulous man, Matthew walked down the street considering and dismissing plan after plan. He was so pre- cise that he only made major transactions like paying his bills at the end of the month. Dedication to his job encompassed the rest of the month. He stopped at another store window displaying a telecast.
“And now the latest update on the drug Blue Heaven,” the announcer said. Authorities are conducting a nationwide search for the creator of the drug. They feel that because this is a de- signer drug, the producer must be found in order to flush out the stock.” We have live from the nation’s capital Chief Green of the DCPD.”
Matthew broke away from the window and started home. The further he got from the store the faster his pace picked up. He rounded the corner and moved very quickly to his car.
Pulling out a twenty to pay the parking ticket, he inquired, “How much?”
“Ten dollars, Sir,” was the clerk’s reply.
He gave the man a twenty and was on his way before receiv- ing his change.
“Here you are,” said the attendant, looking at a woman in place of his previous customer.
“Oops! Sorry Ma’am,” said the attendant.
“It looks like I am going to have to stop that maniac after all,” Matthew thought to himself.
