The BAYADA Way of Operating an Office: Home Care May 2019
Supporting Team Performance
We promote teamwork in many ways:
• Celebrating large and small achievements frequently, with rewards (such as
BAYADA Bucks, office dinners, and so on), recognition (such as acknowledgment in The BAYADA Bulletin), and activities (such as contests to promote positive outcomes).
• Creating social events, such as birthday and holiday celebrations, picnics, social outings to sports events, and so on.
• Participating in community service efforts, such as food drives or charity walking events.
We empower offices to develop teams for maximum performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. We expect every office employee to work at peak performance and come to the aid of teammates, especially during urgent situations such as new
service requests, callouts, incoming phone calls.
The director has an important role in promoting team performance. A director should:
1. Lead team performance.
• Lead by example.
• Assume team leader role.
• Employ a hands-on interactive style.
• Set the tone of office.
• Be accessible; have an “open door” policy.
• Establish “office ground rules” for fair distribution of tasks such as service request rotation, interviews, on-call rotation, holiday and vacation requests, physical office maintenance, and others.
• Create sense of urgency and lead team into action as needed.
• Back up the team during peak activity and when short staffed.
• Demonstrate eagerness to support and problem-solve at all times.
• Learn and share outside provider information with team to stay competitive.
