The BAYADA Way of Operating an Office: Home Care May 2019
• Open floor plan to facilitate communication, equality, teamwork, role modeling and training
• Quiet room for interviewing, private conversations, communications with physicians, and test taking (may use conference room for this if necessary)
• Director’s office close to open area to enable director to stay tuned in to office activity
• Multipurpose room (conference room and skills lab—combined with moveable
partition or separate)
• Pantry or kitchen area close to multipurpose room and equipped with running water
• Large storage area
• Office equipment area close to office employees
• Computer access and BAYADA email access readily available to all office employees.
• Skills lab – Refer to the Skills Lab Lists for Assistive Care, Basic Nursing, and Vent and Trach located in the Onboarding section of the Recruiting Toolbox.
Note: One alternative idea is to share a lab among offices or within a division.
Some ways to obtain the needed supplies include: Good Will, eBay, donations from DME suppliers or vendors, dollar stores (for personal care supplies). Mannequins should be ordered through PRO. Remember to practice infection control when acquiring used equipment.

To provide a setting that will be adequate for training and competency assessment, most of the items from the skills lab lists should be available However, it can be difficult for individual offices, especially those without an educator, to obtain these supplies.
