○ Chapter 4: Crystal Heart
                          ■ This chapter is called "Crystal Heart" because as Winston and Julia meet in their hideout
place, the second floor of Mr. Charrington's house, they have a very intimate relationship,
it's clear that they love each other. As Winston is on the bed, he thinks of a glass
paperweight that he has and he compares it to his life. He finds it interesting the interior
of the glass as opposed to the coral that is inside it, at the heart of the glass. He sees that
the interior of the paperweight, the coral, is surrounded by a crystal layer, giving it so
much depth and enclosement. This is a comparison because he sees that the room he is in,
that is, the society he is in, is the paperweight crystal layer. Also, he sees that the coral,
the center, as his and Julia's life. It's as if the crystal surrounding the layer is the bigger
force that traps the coral inside it, enclosing it, just like the Party traps love and
minimizes it, burying it in depthness. Winston's and Julia's love will be at the heart of the
crystal till eternity, never leaving its trap; it will always be enclosed and deeply hidden
                              from the Party.

                   ○ Chapter 5: Rebel from Head to Toe
                          ■ This chapter is called "Rebel from Head to Toe" because as Winston talks about how the
government fakes being at war and how he commits forgeries at his work in the name of
Big Brother, Julia doesn't even get surprised. Julia's not very interested when Winston
talks about these things, she doesn't really care who Oceania is at war with or how Big
Brother changes history because these things doesn't affect her daily life. Also, she
doesn't have revolutionary ideas like Winston does, she just wants to live her life while
finding little way to rebel the government, like having an affair. As Winston said: "you're
[Julia] only a rebel from the waist downwards" (pg. 196), and Winston is a rebel from
                              head to toe.

                   ○ Chapter 6: Death is Inevitable, Survival is an Option
                          ■ This chapter is called "Death is Inevitable, Survival is an Option" because as soon as the
moment Winston has been waiting for, having O'Brien come talk to him, arrived, he
knew that his survival is even more at risk. By talking to O'Brien about Syme, the
vaporized dictionary writer, and agreeing to go to his house, Winston knows that he is
"stepping into the dampness of a grave" (pg. 201). He always knew that his death was
inevitable even if he hadn't written a diary or had an affair, but he chose to step into an
even more dangerous rebellious act when assenting to O'Brien's proposal. He put his
                              survival even more at risk by doing that, and it was his own spontaneous decision to do it;
there were no influences or lack of option, Winston chose to try and enter a rebellion
                              organization.

                   ○ Chapter 7: Staying Human
                          ■ This chapter is called "Staying Human" because as Winston and Julia are talking about
being captured, Winston said that he will never betray her. From what they've done
already, their rebellious acts, they know they will eventually be caught and Winston says
that once they are, they'll make you confess everything, and they're powerless once that
happens: nothing they say or do will make the other one not be killed, they'll never know
if the other one is dead or alive. However, confession is not betrayal, whatever they say
or do won't matter is their love for each other remains. They only real betrayal would be
if they stopped loving each other, this is why as long as you "feel that staying human is
worthwhile, even when it can't have any result, you've beaten them [Big Brother]" (pg.
