○ Chapter 6: 2 + 2 = 5
■ This chapter is named "2 + 2 = 5" because throughout all the torture and brutality,
O'Brien would brainwash him to a point where he was insane enough to say that 2 plus 2
equals five. This in fact happens because Winston is set free and he obeys and love's Big
Brother. He doesn't have a relationship with Julia and he lives orthodoxly as a good Big
Brother follower would.
