Chapter A

Aligning the blended modalities with the institutional strategy

In the last decade learning institutions from early preschool to higher education are

aiming to pilot a blend learning approach of using the Internet and various digital media
within their classrooms that requires the presence of teacher as well as students.

Therefore, some institutions have their teaching strategy aimed to succeed in

achieving its mission and accomplishing goals through the process of a blended
               learning approach.

                                                What is Blended learning approach?

Bryan, A. and Volchenkova, Kseniya (2016) defined

blended learning as ‘the effective combination of
different modes of delivery, models of teaching, and

styles of learning. While as Friesen (2012), defined
“Blended learning” that designates the range of

possibilities presented by combining Internet and
digital media with established classroom forms that require the physical co‐presence

               of teacher and students’.

Therefore, one can conclude that as more and more definitions around blended
learning (often linked to “hybrid learning” as well) is surfacing the most agreeable

theory about such approach is that it is a process that involves the teaching and
learning practice by using technology as a tool of which they supplement each other.
