WHERE DO THEY COME FROM

Concepts in architecture can be generated from three
          main areas which are:

The Site: This kind of concept being developed based on
the climate orientation, views , access, context, history
and the usage of the site. The detail explanation on site

analysis will be covered in the next topic.
Design Brief: This kind concept develop from the client
and building requirements, accommodation and the
          construction budget limit.
Building Typology: This type of concept being developed

through the building type and the main use of the
building that going to be designed. The main thing this
type of concept control by the main activity being

          developed from the building.

To make simple for students to understand more often a
good architecture concept will always be well related to
its site and context. Therefor site analysis plays big role in

architectural concept development. As an example, we Figure 4 : Form developed from site condition
look in detail Corbusier’s analysis of form and how this
form is achieved. From the site analysis the concept

developed then supported by the design brief and
          building typology.
