Crickhowell
Situated in the beautiful Usk Valley, pretty Crickhowell’s
popular Georgian high street is worth visiting, with
charming, independent shops. Crickhowell boasts the
remains of the castle and the longest stone bridge in
Wales with more arches on one side than the other.
For further information go to www.visitcrickhowell.wales
or pop into CRiC p41, the volunteer-run information
centre with café that is situated in front of the car park.
Crickhowell hosts a walking festival in March showing off
its credentials as an ideal base for walkers.
Abergavenny
Abergavenny is surrounded by mountains and hills.
It is a bigger, market town with rail connection to Bristol,
Newport and Cardiff. You will find car parks, supermarkets,
takeaways and a covered market. You can access a lovely
walk through fields by the Usk from the Byefield Lane car
park (free every day except Tuesday). It is home to the
famous and delicious Abergavenny Food Festival in
September and a big steam festival in August. You can
access the Monmouth and Brecon Canal here.
