In Crickhowell, the world-famous Bear Hotel p64
is open to everyone, food is so local that the butcher is
virtually next door and the smokery near by.
10 minutes drive from Abergavenny to Goytre Wharf will
bring you to Penelope’s Café p71 recommended on
Restaurant Guru 2021 with views of the wharf, boats and
hills, and you can ramble along the tow path.
Make sure you roam through Abergavenny’s
pedestrianised town centre and visit the covered market
- market days on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
Take a trip along the A465 to visit Rowlestone Ice Cream
p71 for homemade ices, woodland trails and play area.

See the area by hiring a bike, or go pony trekking with
Grange Trekking p50 in the Llanthony Valley outside
