A lovely Georgian town with independent shops, a castle
– scene of the Christmas Day Massacre borrowed by Game of Thrones - and a bridge with more arches on one side than the other. The information centre is mainly run by volunteers. There’s a walking festival in March and an open weekend for artists studio in May. The Green Man festival is in August.

Henrhyd Falls and the cave behind it (one of the film sets for Batman’s Bat Cave) and Craig y nos Country Park – the lovely parkland once laid out for famous Victorian opera diva Adelina Patti.
