Bullpit Meadows are close to the bridge over the River Usk at Crickhowell. The
meadows are well used by local people and visitors for walking and recreation. Seats
and picnic benches can be found along the path. The tarmac path runs alongside the
River Usk for 0.2 miles /370m. There is a short steep slope at the entrance for flood
control, but it is level after that. The path continues past the footbridge for another
0.9 mile/1.5km for a pleasant walk through woodland and farmland alongside the
river. There is no further seating. This section is on natural soil surface which has
been graded to form a reasonably level path with a couple of short, sloping sections,
but becomes muddy after heavy rain. There are self-closing gates and a few ramped
bridges. The path eventually splits, ending at a stile onto the busy A40 or turns into
a permitted path which is not easy access. Faced with these two options it is
recommended you retrace your path back to the start.
How to get there: The path starts by the traffic lights opposite the Bridgend Inn.
