Finding the Horse of Your Dreams

is spoken in the part of Switzerland where my family comes from so choosing this
name made me feel instantly connected to my horse. Even though lots of riders told
me that changing your horse’s name is bad luck, I can affirm that we didn’t have bad
luck at all. Angelo turned into one of the best horses in the category we were compe-
ting in. Nothing bad happened to either of us. We were champions of one of the most
important international championships after only four months of being together. So,
if you don’t like your horse’s name, change it. Nothing bad will happen.

But now, where can I find

               my perfect horse?

Unlike dogs and cats, finding your ideal horse is not so easy because in some cou-
ntries the sport horse market is not usually open to everyone. In some countries of
Europe or the United States, where the equestrian world is enormous, you can find
many websites where owners publish horses for sale. Websites are a good option to
find different horses if you live in any of those countries. Otherwise, if you live in a
country where this type of online resources is not available, your trainer will be the
best person who will help you find your horse. Trainers have a lot of contact with
the horse market, and know the horses that are for sell quite well. With your trainer,
you will visit other barns, breeders, stud-books, and you may even travel to other
countries where the stock of horses is higher.

If you decide to purchase your horse overseas, there are other important points to
consider. First of all, you have to make sure that the seller is reliable and other people
have had good experiences buying horses from him. Riders who decide to buy a hor-
se in a different country always try to buy
                                                  their horses from a well-known stud-book
or breeder. Also, as you may not know
many equestrians there, be sure to check
the horse’s background and show record
very carefully to ensure his potential. Fina-
lly, you should keep in mind that you will
have to pay a lot of money to bring your
horse from another country home. Horses
can’t travel alone, so horse air transport
companies make flights for at least two
horses (Wark, 2017). If you are only going
to buy one horse, then you have to find so-
meone else who wants to take a horse from
that country to your home country.
