14-114 Safety glasses should be worn around any plant, loading or
unloading facilities and when weather conditions warrant on
barges.
14-115 Swimming off the boat or barges is prohibited.
14-116 Wear proper clothing suitable for the job.
14-117 Smoking or lighted matches on deck while transferring fuel oil is
prohibited. No smoking in your bunk.
14-118 Do not lean over the edge of a boat or barge to get a line or
mooring cable. Use a grapnel or boathook.
14-119 Keep watertight doors secured, either dogged shut or hooked
open.
14-120 Descend a vertical ladder facing it.
14-121 Do not step on a manhole cover.
14-122 Do not use a damaged deck fitting such as a cleat or bitts. Notify
the wheelhouse of damage.
14-123 When using a capstan to “pull hawser” or to take in slack, keep
your hands on the outside of the line.
14-124 Do not put yourself between the boat pushknee and barge, or
outside the waist between tug and barge.
14-125 No unauthorized personnel are allowed on the boat or barges.
14-126 Follow all other safety rules as appropriate.
14-127 Confined space rules must be strictly followed.
