The Caves

On the second day it was off to the caves,
for a ‘tourist’ visit. However, this involved a
number of unexpected challenges that took
the team outside their comfort zone. Pete, the
guide, took the explorers underground into
a labyrinth of caves. Using a rope, everyone
descended into the first cave, after which it was
a case of climbing, scrambled and lowering
through openings in the rock to gaze at the
stunning glacial looking rock formations
formed over millions of years; awesome sights.
The final challenge was to walk around an
underground lake on a thin ledge that was
only two inches wide at times. Everyone made
it safely round, only to be told that they had
reached the furthest point and were now
heading back; another character building
moment.
