Grape - Earth - Sky

There was a kind of ritual

hiding under those leafy vines

of clusters and leaves,

whose shapes resembled hands open

to September's indigo blue sky.

And I let myself go

in those paradises of golden, transparent fruits

revelling in my senses.

Filtered light of water

and sun whose reflection I absorbed on my palate.

Delightful your shine for my eyes

amazed by so much beauty

sprung from a long-suffering land

cultivated by the hands

of those men whose work

shone green on the arid

hills of that beautiful landscape.
