Is it acceptable to be in second place? Yes, when your organization is second among
ninety-nine others in a worthwhile fundraising event. The Montgomery Alumnae Chapter
of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was one of many sponsors highly recognized by the
American Cancer Society in the “Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk” on Satur-
day, October 14, 2017 in downtown Montgomery. Survivors, volunteers, participants
and supporters converged upon the Union Station Train Shed as early as 7:00 a.m. to
prepare for this spectacular event. Registration began promptly at 7:30 a.m. with mem-
bers of the Montgomery Alumnae Chapter’s Project Outreach Committee and other com-
mitted Deltas leading the way. Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. supported
our own “Sister Survivors” as well as others by establishing and exceeding a monetary
goal of $3000.00. Never second, but always first is our support for those who have sur-
vived, for those who are fighting and for those who are “Making Strides against Breast
Cancer.”
