Chapter 1
Kenyan politics
An OVERVIEW
Kenyan politics has been a politics of betrayal,
betrayal of public interest, betrayal of mass emotion,
betrayal of promises, betrayal among political bed
fellows and the like, if you want to work with Kenyan
politics you have to understand how betrayal manifests
itself in practical politics.
The first instance of betrayal is among men and
women who fought for our independence, people who
dwelt here in the colonial era, betrayal can be seen in
Jomo Kenyatta’s denouncement of the Mau Mau, of
Africans ganging up aganist fellow africans under the
European authorship , of the African elite disregarding
African customs under the pre- text that they are
primitive.
Then comes the Moi legacy, Moi terror itself,
ruling with the iron hand of tyranny, betraying his own
Nyayo philosophy, betraying democracy and replacing
it with totalitarian ethic, betraying the will of the people
