delegates the chance to hear first from the heads of national ground transportation trade association officials on what changes they feel airports could make to assist their members and how ground operators and airports could work together in this period of major changes for our airport curbs. This kick-off panel helped to set the stage for an update on what airports have been doing during this period of change. The stage was thereby set for an interesting and informative conference. The following tries to capture some of the highlights and discussions from that meeting.

Airport Taxis and Shared Ride Van vs TNCs
TNCs have now been providing airport services for two years or more at many airports with the result of airport taxi and shared
ride van services being devastated. Articles from San Diego and DFW Airport depict in detail the financial suffering the taxi drivers
have experienced as their markets have been dramatically taken over by TNCs, and their rapid and disruptive innovation within
those markets. Newer technology and enormous amounts of venture capital were specifically intended to support the capture and
expansion of the San Diego and Dallas markets, with TNCs hoping for profitability to come at some point down the road. Few

heard from SFO, IAH, and MSY. As shown by the following SFO data, TNC trips now outnumber every other mode. At SFO, taxi trips have shrunk from 11% to 4% while TNCs have grown from 4% to 24% in just three years of operation. As shown, SFO shared ride service is down by 30%.
