TMC Penang 125th Quasquicentennial Anniversary Celebration Commemorative Book
MESSAGE FROM MR. S. SELVARAJ
LAY LEADER, TAMIL ANNUAL CONFERENCE
All praise and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ!
It gives me great pleasure to write this message for the 125th Anniversary Celebration of the Tamil
Methodist Church, Penang, which was the FIRST Tamil Methodist Church in the nation! This
celebration reminds of:-
1. THE FAITHFULNESS OF OUR LORD
Over the last one and a half centuries He has been Faithful! Today, we have a very vibrant Church,
being led by an able Pastor and active laity. As any other church, TMC Penang has had its share of
struggles and difficult times. But through ALL that, His faithfulness had sustained and enabled it to
become ‘more than conquerors’ (Ron.8:37).
2. THE FAITHFULLNESS OF THE PASTORS
During the 125 years, many God’s servants had toiled in this vineyard. The pioneers and many
Pastors who had served here had contributed immensely towards the growth and ministries of this
church. It has been and will continue to be a great blessing to the community and nation. Today, we
remember and salute them for having been ‘good and faithful servant’ (Matt.25:21).
3. THE FAITHFULNESS OF THE LAITY
Hundreds of lay members of the congregation had faithfully worshiped and supported the ministry
of this church, through their prayers, participation and sacrificial giving. Many have tirelessly worked
with the Pastors, towards the spiritual, physical and social development of our forefathers! Praise
God! Their efforts are recorded in God’s ‘Book of Remembrance’(Mal.3:16) and the ‘Book of Life’
(Rev.20:12).
As we remember the above and praise God, they also remind us that we should continue to have
FAITH and carry on the good works of our Lord Jesus Christ! We are exhorted to be ‘steadfast,
unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord’ (I Cor.15:58). THE LAITY MUST FUNCTION
WITH PASTORAL HEARTS – keeping our Chief Pastor, the Lord Jesus Christ before us, as our
‘labour is not in vain in the Lord’.
God bless.
