The internal barrier pouch can be opened from either side.

B. Red tape strip............................................................ Pull off sharply GROUND

Hold the stowage pouch with one hand, pinching the internal
barrier pouch and the stowage pouch. With the other hand, TAKEOFF
grasp and sharply pull off the red tape strip, in the direction of
the arrows.

FIRE/SMK
C. EPOS/VRU...................................................... Remove from pouch
NORM
Remove the EPOS/VRU from both the barrier pouch and the
stowage pouch and unfold. PRES/OXY
NOT FOR FLIGHT
D. Red Ball.................................................... Pull free of oxygen bottle
ENG/PROP
Hold the hood with the neck seal (silver end) towards the user.
Pull Red Ball with one hand while holding the oxygen cylinder
with the other hand. The Red Ball and lever must pull free of the FUEL
oxygen bottle.

E. Neck seal................................................................................. Open AAR

Place both hands inside the neck and seal opening, place
SPEC both palms together facing each other, and spread open the ELEC
neck seal. Pull the hood over the head and neck with the seal
stretched open.

If a hissing sound is not heard after the Red Ball has
EHHQ SXOOHG DQG RU WKH KRRG GRHV QRW VWDUW WR LQÀDWH
immediately remove the EPOS/VRU from the head. GEAR

F. Breathe............................................................................... Normally

PERF After the hazard is over, or when the hood collapses and touches the
face (indicating the oxygen concentration is low):
JETTISON
G. EPOS/VRU......................................................................... Remove
