Lay the working end over
5 its preceding part. (This
gives the 'over' part of the
knot's name. For the Simple
Simon under, take the working
end under its preceding part.)
Take the working end
6 around the outside of the
bight, and then through the
bight, so that it finalJy lies
alongside its own standing part.
Gradually work out the slack
and tighten the knot.
