c ike the double figure-of-eight bend, if a sudden shock or extra load is exerted on
z L adjustable-bend knots, they will slide and absorb some of the strain. U nder a steady load,

cc however, the knots will remain separate. This knot can be tied in rope, although climbers
prefer it in webbing.
Lay the two len gths of cord
I parallel to each other, with
their working ends facing in
opposite directions.
Take the working end of
2 the upper cord and make
a turn around the other
cord, w rapping it towards
the nearest end.
Now take the working
3 end around the cord a
second time .
