CLAIMS, CLAIMS, CLAIMS!
Claims Process Update
By Bruce Martino, Legal
Credible and solid product claims differentiate GOJO products in the market, and can give us a
significant competitive advantage. But how does an organization make solid product claims
while holding true to its claims principles? This question was evaluated by the Claims Principles
and Process Team, and the team created 6 guiding Principles and a process for reviewing
product claims before the claims are made in the marketplace.
The claims space includes Ideation, Submit via CIMS, Claims Review, and Execution.
What is a claim? A claim is any statement we make about a GOJO product. It can be directly
expressed or implied. It can be in writing or made by word of mouth. It can be made in any
medium. Product claims communicate information about a product, such as performance,
features, safety, price, and effectiveness.
Employees involved in claims ideation must enter a new or revised claim into the Claims
Information Management System (CIMS). The Regulatory Affairs team will review claims
placed in CIMS and process them. Claims that are more complex or aggressive will be routed
to a Claims Review Team for review. We are calling the more aggressive or risky claims
aggressive and prudent (AP Claims). AP Claims include comparisons of GOJO products to
competitors’ products and new product claim territories. A separate Claims Review Team will
review AP Claims with the ideator or claim initiator. Reviews will feature open discussion in a
true GOJO collaborative format. Using this technology-based process will result in stronger
product claims that get to market faster and with more thorough insight.
