• Prop 65 List is a list that contains a wide range of naturally occurring and
synthetic chemicals that are known to cause cancer or birth defects or
other reproductive harm. These chemicals include additives or ingredients
in pesticides, common household products, food, drugs, dyes, or
solvents. Listed chemicals may also be used in manufacturing and
construction, or they may be byproducts of chemical processes, such as
motor vehicle exhaust.
• Renewable Energy is the use of natural resources such as sunlight,
wind, tides and geothermal (heat in the earth) used to create another
form of energy such as electricity.
• Sustainable Ways of Working, or SWOW, is about imbedding
sustainability into all aspects of our business
• Sustainability is about meeting or exceeding the needs of the present
without compromising the ability of future generations to meet or exceed
their own needs. There are three key domains of sustainability:
o Social - Enhancing people’s quality of life and reducing risks to
health and well-being
o Environmental - Increasing positive impacts and reducing
negative impacts on our ecosystem
o Economic - Building economic strength and prosperity for GOJO
and our stakeholders
• Sustainable Value is about creating value for the enterprise and for
stakeholders. It's about making business decisions that are good for life
and the ecosystem while being profitable for GOJO and our stakeholders.
• Sustainable Chemistry is an area of chemistry and chemical
engineering focused on the designing of products and processes that
minimize the use and generation of hazardous substances.
• Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - The United Nations’
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are a universal call to action
including 17 interconnected goals. This set of global goals calls upon
countries, companies and citizens to help improve the lives of people
around the world by taking actions to end poverty, protect the planet and
ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
• Third-party certification involves an independent assessment declaring
that specified requirements pertaining to a product, person, process or
management system have been met.
• USDA Certified Bio-Based - The purpose of this label is to make it easy
for consumers to locate and compare biobased products for purchase. By
choosing a biobased product labeled, USDA Certified Biobased Product, S W O W S M
the consumer can be assured that the USDA and the federal government
stand behind the accuracy of the percent of biobased ingredients as P a g e | 4
stated on the label.
