   5G. The Speed Of Wave
1 x 60’, 2020, 4K
‘5G. The Speed of Wave’ is a journey around the world asking ‘How is 5G technology already changing our world and how will it bring change in the future?’ Some people set 5G masts on fire, while others use 5G to fight Covid-19. But what is the truth about this new technology and what is the potential of 5G? Virtual reality in real-time is a paradise for computer game fans, but it also enhances the rehabilitation of patients and develops the skills of students in fields such as engineering and fine art. Smart homes will turn into smart cities, autonomous cars, augmented reality, artificial intelligence - thanks to 5G these concepts will soon become the everyday reality of a global virtual village - our world.

In 2018 Kiwi choreographer Corey Baker made history when he filmed a world first; a dance film to highlight the impact of climate change on Antarctica. Entitled Antarctica: The First Dance, it was set to the music of UK indie pop group London Grammar and featured Madeleine Graham, a young dancer from the Royal New Zealand Ballet. ‘Dancing on Icebergs’ chronicles the build up to the trip; preparation and delays, arrival and survival training, location scouting, staging and filming of the dance, successes and failures and sheer human courage and endeavour as the days tick away to their scheduled departure. Failure to complete the film in time would have seen the entire project fall apart, something that was always front of mind for Corey and crew.
At a time when we are bombarded with COVID-19 information comes a moment of clarity – and a warning we cannot afford to ignore. We ask – who is really behind this pandemic? Find out in revealing dialogues with scientists, experts and activists like conservation icon Jane Goodall and environmental hero Captain Paul Watson from Sea Shepherd. Their stories combine with raw, up to date images and footage in a film to make you pause, feel and act.
