The Man In Love
John 3:16-17
The reason that God send His Son to show love to us who believe is so that we will not perish but enjoy everlasting life. His intention was to save us through His son. In fulfilling this mandate, Jesus the Son of God showed us love and laid down His life for us. This is the love that husbands are commanded to show to their wives. That means that husbands are commanded to ensure that their wives are beneficiaries of the love that Jesus showed to them. It means further that, if Jesus was committed to saving them from perishing, husbands must also be committed to saving their wives from perishing as well. Jesus went to prepare a place in heaven for us so that we can come and stay there with Him. Husbands must ensure that through similar show of love, their wives also have access to abide with them in that same place that Jesus had gone to prepare. The bottom line in the commandment for husbands to love their wives is that they make it to heaven along with their wives. Husbands would have failed if they do not make it to heaven with their wives. That is surely not the will of God in commanding them to love their wives.
