The Man In Love
help of the Spirit of God, whose word we are commanded to obey, accessing truth that fosters obedience would be impossible. Jesus told us in the foregoing scripture that the mandate of the Spirit of Truth is to guide us into all the truth of His word. Being the Spirit of God who knows all that is in God, and by implication, all that is in Jesus, He will take from what is in them and declare them to us.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
This same Spirit is referred to in 2 Timothy 1:7 as the Spirit of Love. According to 1 John 4:8, God is love. If God is love then the Spirit of God is the Spirit of Love. His Spirit knows and carries His nature of love. The implication of the full scripture in 1 John 4:8 is therefore that whoever does not love does not have the Spirit of Love, being the Spirit of God.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1 John 4:7-8
