reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

You will note that the Spirit of God is the Spirit of the fear of the Lord and He quickens our understanding of what the “fear of the Lord” really means. Proverbs 16:6 also confirms that it takes an understanding of the fear of the Lord to depart from evil and preserve the state of sanctification.
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

An understanding of the fear of the Lord empowers obedience. According to 2 Peter 1:2-4, through God’s divine power (the Holy Spirit), we are empowered with the knowledge of Him to life a sanctified life.
