The Man In Love
Proverbs 17:22
The merry heart has a medicinal effect on every individual. It is therefore important to ensure that we provide whatever makes our wives merry at heart. No matter how much food we provide for our wife, in quality and quantity, if she is not merry at heart, she would not be truly nourished. What she needs may be sexual, financial, spiritual or even mental in nature. Whatever it is, we must be sensitive to it and ensure that vital need is duly serviced.
Husbands must especially be a source of joy and laughter to their wives. Joel 1:10-12 tells us that without joy there can be no nourishment. When joy withers away from the hearts of men, everything will wither as well.
The field is wasted, the land mourns; for the grain is ruined, the new wine is dried up, the oil fails. Be ashamed, you farmers, wail, you vinedressers, for the wheat and the barley; because the harvest of the field has perished. The vine has dried up, and the fig tree has withered; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree—all the trees of the field are withered; surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.
Joel 1:10-12
Everything else may be allowed to fail in the lives of our wives but joy must not be allowed to wither. Joy is a key nourishing factor.
