Jesus through His death and resurrection obtained forgiveness of sin for us. In fact He said that He did not come to save the righteous but to lead sinners to repentance. He taught us to forgive if we desire forgiveness also for the Father. Matthew 6:14-15 says,
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Jesus demonstrated this virtue on many occasions during His ministry apart from instructing the people on the importance of the subject. Husbands have a great deal to learn here also. Forgiveness is a demonstration of love for our wives. We must learn to forgive as many times as we may be offended, and never hold bear such offence in our hearts even after we claim to have forgiven. This is practical demonstration of love.
