11. Christ Chastised When Necessary
Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.” And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father.
Luke 9:41-42
It was not all rosy between Jesus and His disciples. There were times that they stepped out of line and He promptly chastised them. This is also an act of love according to Hebrews 12:6. Jesus expected that the disciples would have learnt from Him about how to deal with demons but they let Him down when He heard that they could not handle a particular case. He chastised them for not rising up to the occasion and later let them into the additional secret that would empower them over such different situations.
