as a result of the work of the disciples. Jesus prayed for our sanctification (verse 17-19). He prayed that for our cleansing (verses 14-16). He prayed that we would have His joy fulfilled in us and we noted in before that a merry heart is good for nourishment. The content of the prayer itself shows how much Jesus cherished His disciples and we all who have come to believe in Him after them.
As Jesus took time to cry to the Father about us, we also ought to cry to the Father about our wives. Regular intercession for the spiritual and all-round wellbeing of our wives is a compulsory show of love by husbands toward their wives. Let us reexamine ourselves in this very vital area. Those who need to repent and ask God for forgiveness for neglecting to pray for their wives regularly should take advantage of this opportunity to turn a vital new leaf. Husbands are in a position to secure the destiny of their wives through such disposition to prayer for them in the same way that Jesus committed himself to praying for His church.
