The Man In Love
whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:26-28
Jesus did not come to be served but to be of service. That was why He gave His life as a ransom for us all. In the same way, though husbands are meant to rule over their wives, they are required that the ‘rule’ is a call to service as opposed to a call to ‘command and control.’ We are still patterning our love after that of Christ for the church and here we are shown the requirement of a attitude of service as a bona fide gesture of true love. It is more blessed to give than to receive according to Acts 20:35. Husbands therefore, need to always maintain an attitude of service, making themselves available for the benefit of their wives. Rather than demand to be served every time, they must seek opportunities to be of service like Jesus did. Through service true greatness is achieved. This is a call that many husbands need to heed to reposition their marriages.
