simply against any confrontation or challenge of the husband from the wife on any decision or position the husband takes on any matter. It is the captain on a ship that calls the shots and he also has the final say on all matters as long as he is in charge of the journey. That is how it is in the ‘ship of marriage.’
Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.
Isaiah 32:1
In making the above submission, we must add that God expects the husband to rule in righteousness and judgment, and not otherwise. If a husband rules in righteousness and judgment, it should not pose any problem for a wife to obey his word as final on any matter. She would do so because she trusts his judgment and she understands that he has righteousness as his motivation always. Moreover, when the righteous rule, the people rejoice. So when the husband is righteous and fair in his ‘rule’ over his wife, the wife will be joyful.
When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.
