The Man In Love
Don’t try to avoid doing your duty, and don’t stand with those who plot evil, for the king can do whatever he wants. His command is backed by great power. No one can resist or question it. Those who obey him will not be punished. Those who are wise will find a time and a way to do what is right
Ecclesiastes 8:3-5 NLT
The word of Jesus to His disciples and indeed, to His church is backed by great power. We are expected to comply in obedience with all He commands. Our views or opinions are irrelevant in our relationship with Him. His commands are final. Since the pattern of husband and wife relationship is after that between Christ and His church, the word of husbands is also meant to be final. The husband’s word is meant to carry great power and to be obeyed by the wife. It should not be resisted or questioned.
This is not to say that wives cannot express themselves. As verse 5 of the scripture notes, wives who are ‘wise’ will find a way and a time to do what is right. Wives who are wise will find a way to express views that may be contrary to that of their husbands, and through their approach they may be able to get their husbands to change his position to reflect their own view.
