The Man In Love
throughout this book, the wife is the body. It is clear from this scripture that in the love relationship between husband and wife, there is only one head, and that head is the husband. The husband heads the wife in the same way that Christ heads the Church. The wife is under obligation to accord the husband all that the head deserves just as we all as members of the body of Christ, His church, accord Jesus the respect as head.
The head rules over the body just like kings rule over their subjects. The husband is meant to rule over his wife in much the same way as Christ rules over His church. The point of view is corroborated by Genesis 3:16 where God said that Adam would rule over Eve. Moses also appointed various heads over the people in Israel, who ruled over their respective groups. Exodus 18: says
And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people: rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens. So they judged the people at all times; the hard cases they brought to Moses, but they judged every small case themselves.
Exodus 18:25-26
As ruler, the husband wields authority over the wife on all matters in their relationship. Ecclesiastes 8:3-5 says of the king,
