The second thing is that for as long as wives submit to Jesus as Saviour and Lord, she must submit to her husband. In fact, she must submit to her husband in the same way that she submits to Jesus. The scripture says that in much the same way as the church submits to Christ as its head, the wives should submit to their husbands as their head. Only if wives do not submit to Jesus will they be exempt from submitting to their husbands. A woman who does not submit to Christ as head or Saviour is not under obligation of scripture to submit to her own husband.
Thirdly, the scripture is also clear that wives are to submit to their “own” husbands. That gesture is reserved exclusively for their husbands outside of Jesus. Wives are not required to be submissive to other men or the husbands of other women. It is the husband-wife relationship that specifically attracts the requirement for submission. Wives as women need not submit to other men with whom they may be involved in other relationships outside the marriage relationship. The marriage relationship specifically demands and compels submission.
Fourth, wives are not expected to wait for husbands to demand their submission. The command to submit to husbands is
