given to wives and not to husbands. It does not require as a basis for compliance or obedience, that the husband must first demand it. God did not factor the man’s behavior into this commandment. It is a direct commandment given to wives. If the man has to demand for submission from the wife before she complies, she will still be in disobedience because that is not what God commanded. What God commanded of wives toward their husbands must be complied with without any modification that suits the ego of the wives. We are not allowed to add or subtract from what God has commanded.
Fifth, wives are required to submit to their husbands “in everything.” There is no area of the life of wives that is exempted from the requirement of submission. Nothing is to be held back from the husbands. Wives are commanded to look up to their ‘head’ in everything and to submit to their positions on them. Wives cannot have a personal aspect of their lives from which their husbands will be excluded. Some wives would submit to their husbands on those things or in those areas that they find comfortable while they maintain that certain areas are personal to them.
