The Man In Love
should never be allowed to discourage us in our walk. Any contrary reaction from our wives to our show of love is an evil distraction that we must not allow to derail our walk. When we discipline ourselves to continue faithfully in that walk in love, she will eventually come around in line with our desires just as the church is growing by the day, and becoming more like Jesus.
The Love Of Our Own Body
So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.
Ephesians 5:28-29
In the anchor scripture for the book, we read as outlined above, that husbands ought to love their wives as their bodies. The Scripture says that “he who loves his wife loves himself.’ We understand that everybody loves his own flesh and does everything to take care of it just like Jesus did to the church. Christ is the head of the church and we are members of His body (Ephesians 5:30).
