FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
* When you re-branded the band in 2017, why didn’t you just call it
Keel? It’s your name.
RK: “The original members of Keel have been dear friends for 35
years. Yes, it’s my name and I’d be willing to fight for it – but winning
that fight would mean hurting people I love, and I’m not willing to do
that. Ron Keel Band contains two members of KEEL, including the
lead singer…the Keel logo is the primary element of our brand…and
the live show features all the Keel hits many fans grew up listening
to.”
* What else is on the set list for an RKB show?
RK: “Like I’ve always done, I’ll craft the best show possible for the
audience at any given gig. In addition to the Keel catalog, we add
songs from the new album, my previous bands Steeler and Black
Sabbath, and the show is peppered with medleys – little ‘mini-tributes’
If you will – of songs from our new ‘South X South Dakota’ southern
rock covers album.”
* Who are the Keelaholics?
RK: “Keel fans, Ron Keel fans, Ron Keel Band fans…a lot of people that
grew up in the 80’s listening to our music and a whole new generation
of rockers we’re winning over every day, one show at a time and one
song at a time. Hard working, hard partying rockers & rednecks from
all walks of life. There’s a little Metal Cowboy in everyone.”
* What does it cost to book Ron Keel Band for a venue or event?
RK: “I’ve gone out of my way to do many benefit concerts for cancer
patients, our veterans, and other great causes…and other times
we’ve been very well paid for major festivals and corporate events. So,
somewhere between zero and ten grand! Seriously, the weekly gross
is the bottom line, and we try to consider every reasonable offer
because this band was built to play live. We do bring the big show, with
a truckload of gear, staging, and effects and a world-class crew, so
there’s some overhead to consider, but I’m confident this show is
well worth the price.”
