2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY VICE CHANCELLOR
The year 2021, which is the mid-point of the current
2019 to 2024 strategic plan allowed that we as an
institution pause and evaluate the progress made
so far since 2019. The review showed that the
average strategy execution rate for the institution
for the period 2019-2021 stood at 74%, 1% short of
the average target of 75%.
This reviewed strategic plan aims to ensure that all
efforts of the units are geared towards enhancing
administrative processes that will lead to an
improved student experience. The students are our
main clients that deserves the best service from us
every day hence the strategic initiatives in the
reviewed strategy have a deliberate focus on
student experience. Our common purpose of
eliminating inefficiencies, increasing performance
and producing quality, employable graduates
remain. The University’s strategic plan is aligned to
the national and international imperatives such as
the national development plans, Vision 2030, and
sustainable development goals.
Our academic programmes and management
structures take into account the World Economic
Forum’s 2016 report, titled The Future of Jobs and
Skills: Employment, Skills and Workforce Strategy for
the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Vision 2030, the 5th
National Development Plan (NDP5), as well as
industrialization and growth at home policies of
government. With this reviewed strategy, the
University envisions being “a sustainable
