5. SOUTHERN CAMPUS
Phase 1: Construction of Lecture Halls
The Southern Campus is based in
Keetmanshoop. The project was
affected, understandibly so, by covid,
and full completion is expected later than
anticipated.
This is a massive project in the southern parts
of Namibia, and will eventually play a major
role in especially mining support in the area.
De Beers Namibia recently donated 15
laptops in support of Remote Learning efforts at Southern
Campus.

6. MAIN CAMPUS
Construction of Small Animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital:
Phase 2a
Due to the complex technical requirements,
Veterinary Medicine is one of the most challenging
programmes to offer at tertiary level. Veterinary
Medicine involves a wide range of animal species,
from production animals (including cattle, small
stock, pigs, poultry, fish, and bees) through wildlife,
including iconic and valuable species such as the critically endangered rhino, sable and other antelopes, and
the beloved big five tourist species; and companion animals, including donkeys, horses, all pets, and service dogs
for both the Police and people living with disabilities. To cater for this variety of species, each with completely
different requirements for handling, hospitalization, anesthesiology and surgery, two purpose-designed veterinary
academic hospitals, one for small animals, and one for large animals, are required.
Facilities for production animals and wildlife at Neudamm Campus cater for all large animals, including horses,
while the recently opened Outpatients Unit on UNAM Main Campus is Phase 2a of the Small Animal Veterinary
Academic Hospital. Already, our final year vet students are consulting to a growing client base on a daily basis
under the supervision of registered clinicians. The remaining 4 phases of this exciting project will be constructed
as soon as funding is available, and until then, all small animal patients requiring hospitalization or surgery are
transported to Neudamm Campus.
