TEARS OF SUFFERING
As he was born on a full moon day, he was named
Chenga Dawa. He habitually bullied the younger ones
and even challenged seniors. He was audacious but also
had a retiring side to his heart to sympathize with his
rivals who suffered at his hands. People—who had once
thought of him as an invincible thug—now appreciated
his change from a rowdy to a decent boy. Now, he
showed himself to be an ideal boy with a refined
character. His great personality brought a plethora of
surprises to the school community as well. Everybody
believed Ugyen had cast a spell upon him.
One evening, Samphel saw them converse at the school
gate. His eyes popped out. So he approached them from
behind with the speculation Chenga was up to
something, but listening to their conversation, he heaved
a sigh of relief. He listened silently as Ugyen narrated his
traumatic story to his newly-found friend, Chenga. A
deep sensation shook him when he overheard the saddest
part.
“Ugyen?” he interrupted, gawking at Chenga.
Ugyen got up and grinned at him. “Oh, it’s Au.”
“Let’s go home,” said Samphel.
“He is Chenga, Au.”
“Fine.” Samphel scowled at Chenga. “Who are you?”
