don’t you ever repeat that, or you would face dire
consequences!”
The boy cringed and ran away.
Samphel took his little brother to a water tap and washed
the bloodstains off his nose. Way back home, his heart
boiled recollecting the incident. “I wonder how you got
into this fight,” he uttered.
Ugyen wiped tears as he sniffled. “He told me to buckle
his shoes, but I refused. So he started biffing me on my
nose. I tried to run but his friends stopped me.”
Poor boy. Before he could realize what was happening to
him, the bully had thrust him into a circle his gang had
formed.
Samphel clenched his fist and thumped on the wall. “It’s
not enough he got away with just a slap. I think we should
share the matter with Ama so that she could report it to
the school authority.”
“No, please don’t,” said Ugyen, attaching his palms.
Samphel puffed. “Why not?”
“Let it go, please,” said Ugyen, blinking his tearful eyes,
“I am fine.”
“Are you sure?”
