TEARS OF SUFFERING

“Why not?” added Doctor, patting Ugyen’s back. “You’ll
            go to school, won’t you?”

Ugyen nodded. Deep inside, a surge of happiness
overwhelmed him—it had been his greatest desire.

“Ok, you are going to school next year,” Ama declared.

Ama’s was level-headed and her decisions were always
sensible. Her decision about Ugyen’s re-education was
final and binding. She said she would talk to the school
            authorities.

Ugyen didn’t express his feelings openly, though his heart
pounded; he kept smiling. “Ama, do I have to go to the
            same school?”

“Yes, but why do you ask?” said Ama.

“I am just afraid of my teachers.”

            “Why?”

            “Because I—”

“I will talk to the principal. You don’t have to worry
            about that.”

“Don’t you worry, bro,” said Samphel. “Ama will settle
            everything,”
