TEARS OF SUFFERING
4 THE RE-EDUCATION
Days became colder, day by day, and soon schools would
be closed for winter holidays. Now that syllabuses were
all covered up, students were busy preparing for their
final exams.
Over dinner one fine evening—before Samphel got his
Progress Report weeks later—he grinned at his parents.
“Well, mom and dad, I think you’re forgetting something
this time.”
Doctor and Ama glanced at each other, holding their
chest. They crinkled up their noses as they tried to
recollect what Samphel had tipped them. They even
stopped eating rice and racked their brain.
“What’re you talking about?” asked Ama. “I can’t
remember anything.”
Doctor said, “Don’t beat around the bush. Tell us now.”
